Where some healthcare existed last year, the pandemic severely disrupted access. Where it was already limited, the situation was made much worse. Hesperian’s health resources help communities around the world prevent or respond to health emergencies — before, during, and after the pandemic. In Malawi, Amisi and the other members of Solidarity of Refugee Women for Social Welfare (SOFERES) could hardly believe it: they had asked for copies of Where Women Have No Doctor to be sent to them at the Dzaleka Refugee Camp and the books actually arrived! They immediately organized reading groups throughout the camp, finding the participants hungry for health information they could act on.In the congested Dzaleka camp, where the UN has noted a lack of access to clean water and sanitation, Hesperian’s books are the only resources available to support self-reliant healthcare. Today I am asking for your support. Your financial support is the reason Amisi and countless others can rely on Hesperian for information to promote health in their communities. By making a gift, either in your name or on behalf of a loved one, you can respond to urgent and emergent needs and help ensure good health in communities around the world. Please be generous. People around the world rely upon Hesperian’s work to improve the health of their families and communities, and we rely on you.In gratitude, ![]() ![]() ![]() |
