With CLOVES [TZIPOREN] I have a long experience and for some reason, it is not too well known for the treatment of nausea/vomiting. Of course, the patient may have to be examined as vomiting can be a symptom of acute serious conditions. If nausea is very disturbing [and when it is not…!]and no treatable reason is discovered then just make some tea of cloves [ cover, when preparing] and add some honey. Drink frequently a few teaspoons [1/4 teaspoon of the powder or 3 cloves per glass of hot water] Often within an hour or less the patient feels much better.

If not check for more serious problems

Every emergency room should have cloves available and always have this in your kitchen…..can spare you midnight travels to an emergency room.

Nausea can be caused due to motion sickness or any underlying health complication. In some cases lack of sleep for quite a few nights may also lead to this condition. However, one of the most common reasons is indigestion due to bacterial attack. Whatever be the reason, medications are not the only way to deal with it. According to Dr Girija Khanna, author of All About Herbal Remediesa mixture of cloves and honey acts as a miracle remedy to relieve this symptom. Here are some causes for nausea and vomiting.

What makes the combo an effective aid against nausea?

The mixture of clove powder and honey has been used as an ancient remedy to deal with nausea. Apart from an anti-inflammatory property, cloves are known to act as a natural anaesthetic agent which numbs the stomach lining. This in turn prevents the vomiting reflex of the stomach. Whereas, the antibacterial activity of honey helps in fighting off the bacteria, responsible for upset stomach and soothes the walls of the digestive tract.
