This project confirmed that the plant Chimaphila maculata has antibacterial on
some common bacterial laboratory strains. Also searching through the literature
concluded that Chimaphila maculata may be a treatment option for diabetes because
of the inhibition of bacteria belonging to the phylum Firmicutes. Because of the lack
of literature on this plant being used to treat diabetes, there is a need for more
research in this field.
