The Nordic countries and the Netherlands never used the oral vaccine.

When I made aliya to Israel in 1979 I was surprised to find out that polio was not given as an injection here. When after many years It became available I advised all my patients to opt ONLY for the injections not because I was in any way “clever” but because I knew about the rare problems with the oral vaccine and knew that in Holland there had never been problems with the injections,

Until today I don’t know why we behaved like as a “third world” country in this respect.
