How much food does a human being really need?
This question I saw being asked in connection with how much food Noach had to supply to every animal in the ark. It seems that a hundred arks would not be enough to carry all the food.
This week the Tora reading is about Noach and the ark.
From the Talmud it is derived that the consumption of an egg-bulk should be enough to be satisfied [ an egg bulk should be equal to the amount that each animal could swallow at one time—-[Rav Chaim Kanievsky]!
And Rabbi Yehuda [in the Talmud] holds: โAnd you shall eat and be satisfied,โ refers to eating that includes satisfaction. And what is considered eating with satisfaction? The consumption of an egg-bulk.
I think that most of us will get nervous if we were told so by a doctorโฆwe got used to eat far beyond this strict necessary.
