Flu……..important to know
I WILL SEND YOU-bli neder- A SEPARATE ARTICLE ABOUT ASA FETIDA AND FLU.
Important news about Flu …….. might prevent life-threatening alveolar [lung] edema in humans with flu ………….. חדשות|המלצות צמחיות על שפעת
On the 9th of November, I sent you an article [written for Beit Knesset Aderet Eliyahu] from which I will quote one sentence below and then will come to practical advice concerning flu [whatever flu] [for the advice see below the quote below]4
Life extension was the first who quoted from the journal FASEB to the general public the following:
In a journal of experimental biology it was shown that glutathione ester [a kind of a very important antioxidant] might prevent life-threatening alveolar [lung] edema in humans with flu, one of the deadly dangers of flu.[The company Life extension makes such a product, I really don’t know if it would work, but the experiments that have been done -as mentioned above- can’t be ignored.
Maybe it would be wise to keep in stock product[s] like this? It is called Setria(R) Glutathione, I would consider it for anybody with flu, but I don’t know if it is available in Israel [ USA: yes] https://www.newhope.com/beverages/setriar-glutathione-introduced-gnc-s-new-line
It is also known that NAC [easily available via Iherb etc] can boost glutathione levels.
So may do Rhodiola and many more herbs[ https://bottomlineinc.com/health/flu/getting-over-a-cold-or-the-flu-try-this-get-well-quick-recovery-plan%5D
But: I consider Portulaca to be possible life-saving.
This is what I wrote to you on 9th of November.
It is well known that glutathione is an extremely important kind of anti-oxidant and that is widely available in nature but in rather “small amounts”.
It is known that supplements [farmaceutical] with glutathione are in general badly absorbed–unknown to me if the Setria mentioned above is better absorbed [the company was so kind as to send me a few research articles]
Anyhow, I looked upon the famous website from James Duke [z”l] and found two sources to be the richest sources of glutathione.
One is from the vegetable known as Purslane [Dutch postelein] [in Israel known as r’glat ha-gina ] and this vegetable is well known with the Arab population and less so by the average Israeli, as I discovered.
It grows as kind of [bothering] weed [“esev ra”],but it is far from an esev ra.[esev metzuyan!!=a very good herb/vegtable]
[By the way: r’glat ha-gina is also one of the very few herbs which is rich in Omega-3]
The second vegetable quite rich in glutathione is spinach.
I may guess that these plant sources are well absorbed![which I don’t know form the tablet form as mentioned above]
I wrote you already about a homeopathic formula that may be tried for flu.
If you wish you may also buy now portulaca M.T [a tincture made from the vegetable][in case the r’glat ha-gina does not grow in your garden or window-silk…………] from both pharmacies and take more or less 3 times a day 20 to 40 drops if you have/had the flu, on top of everything else you are doing.
[children: 1 year 1/4 dose,3 years 1/3 dose.7 years 1/2 dose,13 years 3/4 dose.between these ages interpolate, anyhow the stuff is not toxic]
Don’t forget also a simple tea like tilia tea [lime flowers tea=linden flowers tea].
There is much more to tell and I will try to keep you informed .

Influenza virus M2 protein inhibits epithelial sodium channels by increasing reactive oxygen species

The mechanisms by which replicating influenza viruses decrease the expression and function of amiloride-sensitive epithelial sodium channels (ENaCs) have not been elucidated. We show that expression of M2, a transmembrane influenza protein, decreases ENaC membrane levels and amiloride-sensitive currents in both Xenopus oocytes, injected with human {alpha}-, {beta}-, and {gamma}-ENaCs, and human airway cells (H441 and A549), which express native ENaCs. Deletion of a 10-aa region within the M2 C terminus prevented 70% of this effect. The M2 ENaC down-regulation occurred at normal pH and was prevented by MG-132, a proteasome and lysosome inhibitor. M2 had no effect on Liddle ENaCs, which have decreased affinityfor Nedd4-2. H441 and A549 cells transfected with M2 showed higher levels of reactive oxygen species, as shown by the activation of redox-sensitive dyes. Pretreatment with glutathione ester, which increases intracellular reduced thiol concentrations, or protein kinase C (PKC) inhibitors prevented the deleterious effects of M2 on ENaCs. The data suggest that M2 protein increases steady-state concentrations of reactive oxygen intermediates that simulate PKC and decrease ENaCs by enhancing endocytosis and its subsequent destruction by the proteasome. These novel findings suggest a mechanism for the influenza-induced rhinorrhea and life-threatening alveolar edema in humans.—Lazrak, A., Iles, K. E., Liu, G. Noah, D. L., Noah, J. W., Matalon, S. Subject: Portulaca and swine flu. [ pictures ]
In the [recent]past I wrote you about the plant [pictures]
From the link below you can read/see botanical details [about] this plant with beautiful pictures from the website of Prof. Avinoam Danin.
This herb grows in Israel only in the summer and autumn.
Maybe one can find it in Eilat?? now
