Maitake, a mushroom [also known as Grifola frondosa or simply Grifola] that grows on trees got a very special name also in western medicine as a very efficient medicine with a lot of publications behind it.
It has been used for a long time as a food and as a medicine in China.
To mention some of its effects:
antibactial, antiviral, antifungal, lowering blood sugar, anticancer [or supporting many chemotherapy programs!!] and specially an immune modulator.
What does this last [immunemodulator] means?
Well first a short introduction. I you have no patience to read further then just read the last coloured piece of the article
In the world of chemistry the word amphotheric is well known but it is also used in biology .
Wikipedia: In chemistry, an amphoteric species is a molecule or ion that can react as an acid as well as a base.[1] The word is derived from the Greek word amphoteroi (ἀμφότεροι) meaning “both”.
Fumaria , a well known herb is a beautiful example.
If there is an underproduction of gall [marra] then fumaria may stimulate the body to produce more gall and if there is an overproduction then the SAME PLANT does the opposite, reducing the production of gall.
This is called amphoteric………a kind of automatic “pilot.
There are many more examples in nature.
The problem with synthetic drugs is that this reaction likely does not exist.
Therefore a wrong diagnosis can cause quite a havoc [nezek] as there is only a one way reaction.

Maitake has been found to be useful for an under reaction of the immune system [for example cancer] but at the same time it can help treat an over reaction of the immune system like allergies and auto immune diseases [herbalist Winston]
This is called AMPHOTHERIC!
A certain part of Maitake -the so called D-fraction- has been widely studied.
It is not overstated to say that virtually every patient being treated for cancer will benefit from the addition of maitake.
No oncologist can object to this.

A good brand [there are many more] is for example:
Griffin Pro Maitake D-fraction by Mushroom Wisdom.
