It is unlikely that there is someone who has not heard this word and does not connect it with possible paralysis.
Even if poliomyelitis had “virtually” disappeared from the globe it still exists and is not for sure not eradicated [yet] like smallpox.[as it seems it is still highly prevalent in Pakistan]
The minimal vaccinations I have advised to all patients during all the years are:
Tetanus–Pollio–Diphtheria–and before the age of one at least also whooping cough [if not contra indicated]
4 injections in total.
I have sent you proof that more than 4 tetanus vaccinations are unnecessary
Still, the habit of giving every 5 or 10 years a tetanus booster [with certain wounds] is done routinely.
There are a few doctors who advise not to vaccinate children at all, and I think they don’t know what they are talking about.
I do agree that many vaccinations are totally unnecessary and can be even dangerous but this belongs to the same “aggressive attitude “to disease [and prevention]as prevalent, especially in the USA which Israel follows blindly. One of the latest examples is vaccination against human papillomavirus (HPV).
I think it is is a huge medical mistake to do this as a policy in Israel. It will take too long to explain this here.
Please follow the instructions in connection with the polio vaccination! if necessary., and take care that your children get at least the basic vital vaccinations.
Polio is still endemic in three countries, i.e., Pakistan, Nigeria and Afghanistan and is eradicated from the rest of the world. Pakistan is considered as the exporter of Wild Polio Virus (WPV) with highest number of polio outbreaks among endemic countries.
